They even had to have a private school tutor come in so I wouldn't miss my schooling. I ended up being in the body cast.hospital bed at home and all.during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's of my 6th grade year. My right hip had been dislocated, but no bones actually broke. It went from just below my chest to all the way down my right leg and to my knee on my left leg. Bummer.Īt the hospital, they put me in a full body cast. I wish I remembered the helicopter ride.that would have been way cool. I guess they called 911, as a helicopter came to pick me up shortly after. The boys went running to my uncle's house. I was just upset and worried that I could not stand up. I honestly didn't realized that the sound came from me.it was my hip bone popping out of the socket. When I did, it sounded like someone hit a baseball with a wooden bat. I knew something was wrong immediately, but I still tried to get up. This time though, I wasn't able to just get up and keep playing. They weren't easy on me just because I was a girl. I caught the ball, went running, he came up from behind me and tackled me hard. I must not have been on my brother's team this time. This particular afternoon, we were having a great, my brother, and three of my cousins (all boys except for me). Yikes!!Īnyway, in that space where my uncle's dogs where, we had a good amount of land to play football. One time when I was little, I went to go to the bathroom in there and came screaming out, with my pants down around my ankles, because there was a snake coiled up in the seat. Still going down the road, you'd see three dog houses in a line, probably 50 ft. My uncle always had lots of dogs and all but one of them stayed outside, even in the winter. Then, my dad's double-wide, a 4-5 car-wide garage that he shared with my uncle (his brother), and then my uncle's trailer. If you were going down the road, you'd first see my grandpa's field of wheat or beans or something else that the family harvested each year. My dad's side of the family all lived pretty close to one another. It was late fall when my brother and I went for another visit. One injury was a bit worse than the rest. I don't recall those moments either.just know my mom told me about them. My mom says that I would come home with random injuries all the time.a softball/baseball hit me squarely in the eye when I was trying to catch it.I fell off the 4-wheeler or dirt bike, etc. I can't imagine being happy to do this and don't know who initiated it or why, I just remember being there in and around the 6th grade. I have no recollection of how or when it happened, but we ended up going to my dad's house for weekend visits.
